Expanding e-commerce

With over 12 years in the digital industry, I’ve had the chance to work across diverse markets. One of the most exciting cases was my recent experience with Dubaipetfood, the largest online pet food retailer in the Middle East.

Dubaipetfood is a unique business, owned by a Danish family, combining large physical stores with a strong online presence—built on a Danish e-commerce platform, a rare approach in the region.

Working with Dubaipetfood provided invaluable insights into scaling e-commerce internationally. The experience highlighted how a regional business can thrive by blending local market understanding with robust, Danish-built technology.

My approach to the case

Building e-commerce in the Middle East

My first task was to understand the unique aspects of e-commerce operations in the Middle East, a region with distinct expectations regarding delivery and online presence.

After several trips across the region, I quickly adapted my knowledge from European markets, refining strategies to fit local dynamics.

I began setting up custom dashboards through Dashthis, taking control of tracking and initiating Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns.

The growth journey was thrilling, especially with access to a broader market and strong executive support for scaling the business. One of the highlights was traveling to Dubai multiple times for employee training, digital strategy sessions, and sparring with both management and investors.
